Three Misses, Two Losses, One Line Moved

A Pittsburgh outlet put three numbers on the Falcons game before kickoff and missed all three, and Atlanta lost by seven anyway. The same afternoon the Braves lost to the club chasing them, and the number that matters did not move.

Falcons

Pittsburgh 20, Atlanta 13 at Acrisure Stadium; the record reads 0-1. The grade first, as promised this morning. Andrew Vasquez of Steelers Wire had Pittsburgh sacking Cooper Rush five or more times; the count was four. He had Bijan Robinson held under 60 total yards; Robinson ran for 83 and caught eight for 90, 173 from scrimmage. His third, 150 receiving yards for DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. together, came in at 98. Three misses; Pittsburgh won by seven regardless. One correction: this morning's edition, as first published, called the piece unbylined and said it named T.J. Watt; it is Vasquez's, and it names no defender.

Watt's name belongs to the fourth quarter instead: a 35-yard interception return, on a short throw meant for Robinson, that was the margin. Rush was 12 of 22 with two interceptions. Nick Folk missed from 54 and 45, both wide right. Miles has the four box-score columns that lost it and the two that worked. Dex has the receipt, and why Pittsburgh never needed a fifth sack. Chris Lindstrom left in the fourth quarter with a concussion, per the club. All four NFC South clubs lost on Sunday. Carolina comes to Mercedes-Benz Stadium next Sunday at 1:00.

Braves

Philadelphia 9, Atlanta 4 at Truist Park. No sweep; the series is Atlanta's 2-1, and the season series closes 9-4. Tied 2-2 into the eighth; Dylan Lee got two outs and allowed four hits and four runs, Victor Mederos got none and allowed three more, seven in the inning. Ellis has the inning and the total: the six-game home test he set on Tuesday came back 28 runs and 3-3, and by his own reading the total is the kindest thing about it. Atlanta are 88-62, Philadelphia 83-67, five clear, twelve to play for each. The magic number, read tonight: seven by MLB's count, unchanged, because a loss to the club chasing you takes nothing off either side of it. Monday is 7:40 at Wrigley Field, Reynaldo López listed against David Peterson.

Hawks

Nothing dated this weekend on ESPN's Atlanta news or transaction feeds, and nothing on the floor. That is the whole line.

Atlanta United

No match, and the row reads what it read this morning: fourteenth on 23 from 25, W 6 D 5 L 14. Next is Saturday at Portland, 10:30 Eastern, Providence Park.

One more thing. This morning's edition put two Atlanta numbers side by side, one at zero and one at seven, and said only one of them was certain to move. The Falcons' reads 0-1. The Braves' reads seven, which was also Pittsburgh's margin and the size of Philadelphia's eighth. Both clubs lost; the only number that moved was the one that started at zero.
