Tilt filed the Game 6 building question open on Saturday. It closed at 1:51 Monday afternoon, and the answer came with a ledger attached — three times the Finals moved for Atlanta's calendar, twice the Hawks moved for the Finals.

Tilt filed the Game 6 building question open on Saturday. It closed at 1:51 Monday afternoon.

Game 6 of the WNBA Finals is at State Farm Arena on Thursday at 12:30 in the afternoon, on USA Network. It had been scheduled for eight at night. Golden State lead the series 3-2, so Thursday lunchtime is an elimination game, and Simone has the read on what the Dream actually have to fix by then — it is not the hour.

What has not been written down anywhere is the ledger, so here it is. Both league releases are public and both are specific.

Three times this series, a Finals game in Atlanta has moved. Game 3 was pulled off Thursday the 22nd and played on Wednesday the 21st. Game 4 stayed on Saturday but its tip came forward from 3:30 to 1:00. Game 6 has now come forward from 8:00 to 12:30, which is seven and a half hours.

Twice, the Hawks have moved. On the 24th they pushed their own home opener against Houston from 8:00 to 8:30 — half an hour. On Thursday they go to 8:00 against Cleveland, and the league's release does not say what time they were starting before, so nobody outside the building knows what that one cost them.

Three against two. One of the two is thirty minutes.

"The sellout crowds and extraordinary atmosphere at State Farm Arena for Games 3 and 4 were a tremendous success," Cathy Engelbert said Monday, announcing the move. That is true and it is also the argument against the hour.

Thursday is not the first time this building has done a doubleheader either. Saturday the 24th already did it: Finals Game 4 at 1:00, Hawks home opener at 8:30. Thursday is the second one in six days.

And this stops being a Finals problem in about four months. The Dream signed a multi-year deal on October 6 to move into State Farm Arena full time beginning with the 2027 season — twenty-five home games there, in a league expanding to a fifty-game schedule, in a building that also houses a full NBA home calendar. Every date Atlanta argued about this month becomes a date somebody schedules on purpose next year.

Houston have now beaten them twice in forty-eight hours, 121-114 at State Farm Arena on Saturday and 120-110 at Toyota Center on Monday. Atlanta led 66-63 at the break and lost the second half 57-44. The number that explains it is the glass: out-rebounded 52-35, which is how a team attempts seventeen more shots than its opponent and makes one fewer. Houston turned the ball over twenty-one times and won by ten anyway. Miami Wednesday, Cleveland Thursday, both at home.

The World Series is Milwaukee and Tampa Bay, Milwaukee lead it 3-0 after a 10-1 Monday, and Game 4 is tonight. Atlanta's own October ended on the 7th, losing a Division Series to Los Angeles three games to one and scoring exactly one run in each of the last two games at Truist Park. Worth keeping in proportion: this was a 94-win team and the third seed in the National League. The 2026 offence scored 742 runs, up from 704 and 724 in the two years before it, which looks like recovery until you notice the team OPS across those three seasons reads .724, .719, .718. The runs are climbing. The rate is not. That is the winter's actual question.

3-4, and ninth in the NFC — the first seed outside the field. Point differential of minus two across seven games, 171 scored and 173 allowed, which is a strange thing to carry two days after beating a San Francisco side that is 6-1. The division is the whole opportunity and the whole problem: Carolina 3-3, Atlanta 3-4, Tampa Bay 2-5, New Orleans 2-5, nobody above .500, and Carolina and Atlanta level at 1-1 inside it. Miles has the number that actually orders that band, and it is not the differential. Tampa Bay on Sunday.

They are not eliminated. That sentence needs the arithmetic behind it, and Tito has done the arithmetic — thirty points, three matches, a ceiling of thirty-nine, and five clubs standing between them and the ninth place in the East. New York City FC at Citi Field tomorrow night. Read his piece before you decide whether to care.

The Dream have played five home playoff games this postseason and all five were at State Farm Arena — a building they do not move into until 2027. They have spent October as a guest in their own future.
