A week ago I wrote off Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Falcons won in it that same afternoon. I am pointing at the building again anyway, because the other club that plays there has banked more points on the road than at home, and both of them play today.
A week ago I wrote that the Falcons had scored forty-nine points in three games in their own building, and signed it tell me I'm wrong.
The building answered me that same afternoon. Atlanta beat San Francisco 29-20 in there. Their only home win of the season, and their best performance in it.
Noted. I am pointing at it again anyway, and this time I brought the other tenant.
The Falcons are minus thirty-seven at Mercedes-Benz Stadium -- seven of those points scored after regulation had already ended in a tie -- and plus thirty-five away from it. Seventy-two points of swing across seven games. Their worst afternoon of the year happened in that building. Their two best happened in Green Bay and New Orleans.
Atlanta United have banked more points away from the same stadium than inside it. Sixteen from sixteen on the road. Fourteen from sixteen at home. Ten home defeats.
Two clubs. Two leagues. One address. Both of them better somewhere else, and both playing today. One o'clock in Tampa. Four thirty in Atlanta.
Now the number that costs me the take.
Tampa Bay are 0-4 at Raymond James Stadium. The team Atlanta are travelling to has not won in its own building either. Being bad at home is not rare in this division this season, and nothing here makes it about one building.
So I am not selling you a theory. Two cases is a coincidence you notice out loud, not a law you prove. The stadium is not the actor here. It is the postcode.
But the shape is still strange.
One o'clock. Four thirty. Same address. I'm counting.

Nobody in Atlanta plays today, and it is the last day this week on which nothing is settled. Friday decides a Cup group game, Saturday a season, and Sunday a home game four thousand miles from home.

Almost everything on Atlanta's board this morning is an estimate - a hip, an ankle, a hamstring, a table position. The exception is a Gold Glove won by a man who filed for free agency three days before it was announced.

There is no NBA game anywhere tonight. Then Atlanta's week arrives all at once — Washington twice inside three days, two fixtures on Saturday, Madrid on Sunday.
